Questions and Answers

Will I know who my photographer is?     Yes! Unless otherwise stated, David will be photographing your Bar/Bat Mitzvah.  We have prided ourselves on our integrity and personal service and we will continue in this tradition that has given us our outstanding reputation.

How do the photographers dress for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs?     Suit and tie is our dress code for both the photographer and the assistants.

How much time should we allow for the formal posed pictures?     It takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour for our photographers to take all of the "posed" pictures.  This amount of time will allow our photographer to take all of the Family Groups, Individual Portraits and Bimah Pictures. Giving our photographer the time he needs to do this job properly means that you will not be bothered during the reception to have these very important photographs taken.  Organization is the key to making these photographs run quickly and smoothly.  Our usual routine is to do the immediate family pictures at temple either during the middle of the week prior to the service or on the same day of the service, approximately 2 hours prior to its start.  The extended families (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and 1st Cousins) are only needed for about ten to 15 minutes and can be photographed either just prior to the service or during the Cocktail Hour. Taking the extended family photographs prior to the service is the wiser of the two choices.  Experience has shown us that once your child is with his/her friends, it will be quite difficult to tear them away from the fun. The one thing that can cause these photographs to take longer than they should is if we need to search for missing family members.

Can we request specific photographs?     Yes!  99% of what needs to be photographed will be done without any input needed.  Immediate family, grandparents and extended family members will all be known to your photographer based on the information sheet given to them by the studio.  The people we would like you to inform us of would consist of other, more distant relatives (Great Aunts or Uncles and distant cousins) and family friends.  These are people that we would not know about unless they were mentioned to us. On the day of the affair you will, more than likely, have other things on your mind.  You will not be thinking about photographs.  Giving us a list of "other people" will assure that no people are missed in photographs that are very important to you.

What about table pictures?     We automatically photograph the adult tables.  We will make our finest attempt at getting a large group photograph of all of the kids, but sometimes this is just logistically impossible.

Is it necessary to arrange to feed the photographer and the assistant?     It is not an obligation, but it is a courtesy. It is a long day for us and arrangements for a meal are well appreciated.  If  you wish not to supply meals to the photographer  and assistant they will find a time during the reception when there is a lull in the action to leave for about a half hour to grab a quick bite.

Does the photographer stay through the end of the reception?     Almost! When the tables are done, enough candid photographs are taken and any requested group pictures are finished our job is over.  We will ask if there are any other requests prior to our leaving.

How many photographs are usually taken?     We normally shoot between 160 and 260 photographs at an affair.  The reason we give it this large variance is because the number of photographs taken is based on the amount of action taking place during the reception, the size of the families and the time allowed for the formal portraits.  We do not go with a limit on the number of photographs taken.  Everything necessary, wanted and requested  will be taken and more.

How long does it take to get our photographs after the Bar/Bat Mitzvah?     Your proofs will be ready in approximately 1 week.  From the time you place your order for the album(s) and other photographs, it takes approximately 3 weeks for loose photographs and 3 months to the finished album(s).  We do ask that your order be placed within 60 days after your Bar/Bat Mitzvah so that we may get your albums and prints to you in a timely fashion.

What about Black & White Photographs?    Black & White photographs or Black & White with “a touch of color” can be done at no extra charge.

Am I locked into the items included in my selected package?     No! You may, if you wish, add photographs to your album or your grandparents' albums or order gifts for family and friends.

Do you also offer videography service? Yes! We have selected a local videographer (MarcAnthony Video) to complement the level of still photography that we do.  They maintain an office in our studio for your convenience.

Can I re-order after my initial order is placed?     Yes! We keep your negatives in a climate controlled environment indefinitely.  Should you wish to re-order, even years after the affair, you can do so quite easily.

If you have any questions that we have forgotten to address in the above information sheet, please feel free to ask...even if the question may seem strange or if it has nothing to do with the photography.  We can assist you in other ways by recommending bands, florists, limousine services or by recommending correct scheduling for time breaks between the different parts of your affair.
